Afternoon Cocktail Party + Strawberry Mojito Recipe

A few weeks ago my buddy Cheray and I organised a little tiny photoshoot so we could take photographs for her I Love You Again Vintage label, and get in the spirit of some fun Spring party ideas.

And really, it was a pretty great idea! Well done to us. I took care of the catering and Cheray took care of the killer vintage outfits, and we had fun with friends. You can take a peek at Cheray's blog for more photos and to contact her. I think all the outfits will be available for sale soon!

We enjoyed some strawberry mojitos, (featuring a paper straw from the Spring Stripe Mix Pack - a great feature of the mix pack straws is that at a party you can tell whose drink is whose!)

Strawberry Mojito Recipe

Ingredients (per serve)
2 strawberries
1/4 teaspoon sugar (or more to taste)
1 spring mint (at least 6 leaves)
1/4 fresh lime
1 shot white rum (I used Bacardi)
soda water
ice

This is one of the easiest cocktails around. First you need to macerate the strawberries by smooshing them with your fingers and sprinkling the sugar on top - after a couple of minutes the sugar will start breaking down the strawberry leaving you with a little puddle of jammy goodness.

Then simply layer the ingredients in the glass. Add some ice, chuck in the macerated strawberries, squeeze the lime juice in and add the squeezed lime too, tear up some mint, and then pour the rum over. Then top with soda water.

If you want to make a non-alcoholic one (a fauxhito?) add extra strawberry and sugar for more flavour.

And I'll finish with this, just because it's fun try out a bunch of vintage clothes and do some silly poses and post the photos online.
